Pizza near Nowy Świat: where to eat in Powiśle, Warsaw

The dining room of Bottegas Śródmieście, the Italian restaurant at ul. Oboźna 9 in Warsaw's Powiśle district

Bottegas Śródmieście, an Italian restaurant and Neapolitan pizzeria, is at ul. Oboźna 9/104 in Powiśle – between Nowy Świat and the University of Warsaw, right by Krakowskie Przedmieście. We are open daily from 13:00 to 22:00, and until 23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. It works well for a late lunch, aperitivo or a pre-theatre dinner.

Where we are: Oboźna 9, between Nowy Świat and the University

Bottegas Śródmieście is at ul. Oboźna 9/104. Nowy Świat is on one side, the main campus of the University of Warsaw on the other. Krakowskie Przedmieście and the Royal Route are right next to us, and downhill towards the Vistula lies the rest of Powiśle.

This is the original Bottegas – where it all started. The entrance is step-free, there is a garden in summer, dogs are welcome and there is Wi-Fi. On Google we are rated 4.4 from 2,206 reviews.

The menu is contemporary Neapolitan pizza and proper Italian cooking: antipasti, pasta made in house, ragù slow-cooked for 4 hours every day, desserts. It is all on the Bottegas Śródmieście menu.

From 13:00: late lunch, aperitivo, dinner

We open at 13:00, so we are not the place for an early lunch before a midday meeting. We are, however, a good address for a late lunch, an afternoon aperitivo and dinner.

Hours: daily 13:00–22:00, Friday and Saturday until 23:00. You can book online or on +48 780 457 080. Our staff take orders at the table, and every guest starts with a small piece of warm, tall focaccia with a drop of olive oil.

Pizza runs from 39 zł (Margherita) to 69 zł (Fichi e Crudo), pasta from 51 zł. The food menu and prices are the same as at Bottegas in Saska Kępa.

Pre-theatre dinner: Teatr Polski is a few minutes away

Teatr Polski is a few minutes from Oboźna. If your evening ends at the theatre, dinner can happen on the way, without a rush.

The simplest way: book a table and tell our staff what time the curtain goes up.

Pizza is a good choice when time matters. In an oven at 485°C it bakes in a little over a minute and goes straight to the table. To start, share something like the Arancini della Bottegas, with ragù and a mozzarella heart.

One note: the Risotto ai Porcini e Lavanda takes 20 minutes. Before a show, either leave yourself time for it or save it for another visit.

A walk around: the Royal Route, the boulevards, Copernicus

A good plan for an afternoon: walk the Royal Route along Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat, then sit down with us on Oboźna.

Or head downhill through Powiśle to the river. The Vistula boulevards and the Copernicus Science Centre are in the same district, towards the water. After a day at Copernicus with the children, pizza is an easy answer to dinner.

In summer the garden is a good place to rest after a walk. If you are out with your dog, bring it in – dogs are welcome here.

Aperitivo: the Italian ritual in Powiśle

In Italy, aperitivo is an hour, a ritual and a bitter taste. Ours, before dinner, looks just as it would at an Italian bar counter.

Al banco, for 24 zł: Crodino (from Piedmont, since 1965), Crodino Rosso and Sanbittèr (since 1963). We serve them the Italian way – a small glass, plenty of ice, a slice of orange and Taggiasca olives.

The Garibaldi del Sud (28 zł) is the one drink invented at Bottegas: chinotto with freshly squeezed orange. There are also Spritz Zero, Hugo Zero and Bellini Zero (35 zł), the Sicilian Le Siciliane sodas (24 zł) – Chinotto BIO, Aranciata Rossa BIO and Mandarino Verde – and Caffè Leccese, espresso over ice with almond milk, a Salento classic.

Wednesday quiz, Thursday live music

Every Wednesday there is a bilingual pub quiz, in Polish and English, run by Rozkmina. Bring a team or put one together at the table.

Every Thursday from 19:15 to 21:30 it's Bottegas Canta: live Italian music at the tables, during dinner. Francesco from Puglia and Manfredi Messina from Sicily sing, and on the first Thursday of the month they perform together – “Il Sud a due voci”. Matteo from Tuscany is in the kitchen. Entry is free; booking is recommended.

We also host events for up to 80 people: birthdays, company evenings, Christmas dinners, presentations followed by dinner. We have a projector and microphone and more than 6 years of experience. Details are on the Bottegas events page.

Takeaway and delivery

If you would rather eat at home or in the office, order takeaway or delivery online. From Oboźna we deliver ourselves.

Neapolitan pizza is at its best straight from the oven, so if you can, come in. But when the evening is at home, the menu is the same. There is more about the restaurant on the Bottegas Śródmieście page.
