Bottegas Canta: live Italian music on Thursdays at Oboźna

You can hear live Italian music in Warsaw every Thursday from 19:15 to 21:30 at Bottegas, ul. Oboźna 9. Francesco from Puglia and Manfredi Messina from Sicily sing at the tables, during dinner. Entry is free; it's worth booking a table.
Bottegas Canta is a Thursday evening at our first restaurant, ul. Oboźna 9/104 in Powiśle. There's no stage, no tickets, no rows of chairs. There's a dining room, tables, dinner — and live Italian music played between the tables from 19:15 to 21:30.
That's what an evening in a trattoria in the South of Italy looks like: someone picks up a guitar, someone starts singing, and the rest of the room keeps eating and now and then joins in. We wanted one place in Warsaw where that happens every week. Dates, photos and more about the evening are on the Bottegas Canta page.
Francesco is from Puglia, the same land as Domenico Modugno. Guitar, voice, nothing else. You'll find him on Instagram as @ilpalomusic.
Manfredi Messina is from Sicily. He sings what Sicily really sings — and the songs you know from the radio. On Instagram: @manphredi_.
In the kitchen is Matteo, from Tuscany. Three regions, three Italians, one dining room. Each brings something of his own: two through songs, one through plates.
On the first Thursday of every month Francesco and Manfredi sing together. We call that evening “Il Sud a due voci” — the South in two voices: Puglia and Sicily at one table.
The evening runs from 19:15 to 21:30, and entry is free.
The music plays at the tables, during dinner. You can talk, eat, order — nobody asks for silence. The songs are a mix: Italian songs everyone knows, and songs from the regions Francesco and Manfredi come from. The room sings along to the first kind; with the second, someone usually asks what the words mean.
The music starts at 19:15. Come around 19:00 so you're seated and have ordered before the first song. We finish at 21:30, and the kitchen carries on as on any other night.
On Thursdays the full regular menu is on. Contemporary Neapolitan pizza from 48-hour dough, baked at 485°C, goes from the oven straight to the table. For an evening of the South, order from the South: Arancini della Bottegas (32 zł) — a Sicilian classic with our 4-hour ragù and a mozzarella heart — the Cialledda (42 zł), a southern Italian salad with Tropea red onion IGP, or the Salsiccia e Friarielli pizza (59 zł).
If you're staying longer, the Orata alla Siciliana (99 zł) is sea bream baked Sicilian-style with datterini tomatoes, Taggiasca olives and capers. To finish, tiramisù or the Pistacchio Cheesecake (35 zł each), made by hand in house. To drink, try the Garibaldi del Sud — chinotto and freshly squeezed orange, the one drink invented at Bottegas.
Entry is free — you only pay for what you eat. On Thursdays the room often fills up, so we recommend booking: online or on +48 780 457 080. The entrance is step-free and dogs are welcome. Address and opening hours are on the Bottegas Śródmieście page.
Oboźna 9 is right in the centre, between Nowy Świat and the University of Warsaw, next to Krakowskie Przedmieście. A Thursday dinner with music easily becomes the start of a night out in town, or a quiet end to a walk along the Vistula boulevards. If you're coming as a larger group, write or call ahead — it's easier to seat you together, close to the music.
At Oboźna we host events for up to 80 guests: company parties, Christmas dinners, birthdays and themed nights. On request, the artists of Bottegas Canta will play — the whole room gets its own Thursday, on the day you choose. We have a projector and a microphone, and more than 6 years of experience organising events.
We'll put together a tailored offer quickly, based on what you need. Write to info@bottegas.pl or use the form on the Bottegas events page: tell us the date, the number of guests, the kind of evening and any dietary needs, and we'll send back a menu proposal and a quote.
